Your experience does not need a timetable
A conversation about grief can begin with the loss itself or with the everyday changes around it. You may want to talk, pause, revisit memories, or explore mixed feelings. The purpose is not to require a particular way of grieving or promise that you will reach a fixed milestone by a certain date.
Support through changing relationships and routines
Individual therapy may offer private space for your experience. Family therapy may be worth discussing when a loss affects shared relationships or when people need help finding room for different perspectives. The appropriate format depends on your needs and who would be involved. Ask about fit before deciding which service to request.
